To give you an idea of how passionately we and others feel about the areas we represent we have included this poem and other testimonials that have been written by current residents of North Cyprus. The poem below was written by a retired couple who moved out to North Cyprus a couple of years ago. We feel it perfectly symbolises all that is true and beautiful about the island. 'North Cyprus' Oh great little island strong and true What has history done to you Taken by Byzantines long in the past But Ottoman and Venetian saw that it didn't last Run by the British and most other nations All say what you do but make no donations The jewel of the Med is how you are known Why can't your aggressors just leave you alone I crave for your beaches your sun and green lands From paradise you are perfectly planned Your oranges, lemons and grapes are so fine The fruit of your loins is truly divine Sat out in the wilderness the rat race looked out Let's tell all the world just what you're about We love you North Cyprus with all of our heart Your peace and tranquillity are oceans apart Ray & Judy 2005 Cyprus Outside My Nan's House Swish, swish, the sea rolls out Shouting, screaming, my nan's getting excited I am here The sun is really hot and I can feel it burning my skin All I want was my nan's big hugs and to stay here forever Cyprus is like a real dream come true The birds are whistling like a tune on Classic FM Tick tock tick tock, the time is running out What else can I want, my family all around me, the sea and the weather Bang, my nan's pans move towards the oven I am happy seeing all these smiles on people's faces like clowns making jokes Selin Aklan, aged 13 2005 'Dreams come True' We moved to North Cyprus 3 and a half years ago. We built our home and two holiday lets on our land. Business is doing well, we love the island and the Turkish Cypriot people. Life is beautiful here. Roy has just published his first book, and we are hoping to get it published in Turkish. If dreams can come true, we both feel we have found it here! Roy & Daphne Thompson 2005 'Our Place in the Sun' My husband and I opened our café bar a year ago and have had a lot of fun in the sun. North Cyprus is a wonderful country. It is safe and the people are very kind and friendly. This is our home and we are very happy here. We have found our place in the Sun!
