Frequently Asked Questions
Step back in time to a slower pace of life, where people talk to each other and the daily routine includes plenty of time to take in the magnificent scenery and enjoy a chat with your neighbour.

The Turkish Cypriot people prefer to take life a little easier and given their lovely climate and breathtaking scenery, who can blame them? Northern Cyprus enjoys a mild, healthy climate with long hot summers and shorter milder winters, where the sea temperature hardly falls much below 20 degrees. It has some of the most beautiful coastline in the Mediterranean, with long sandy beaches and dramatically beautiful mountainous scenery. Much of the Island is carpeted in magnificent flowers, which provide a background of fragrant smells and complement the rich, luscious olive groves. The North covers about 3,350 square miles nearly half of which is irrigated land and a further fifth woodland. Throughout Northern Cyprus you are never too far from the remains of an old medieval city or ruined fortress, it really does have a spectacular pedigree.

Unsurprisingly, a relaxed pace is infectious and with average temperatures of 19 degrees centigrade, (rising to 40 degrees in the summer) and a mouth watering blend of Eastern and Western food majoring on freshly caught fish, locally grown fruit and vegetables, blended with fresh Turkish spices, who would want to hurry?

The locals speak Turkish and the currency is the Turkish Lira, although English is widely used, and the local time is GMT + 2 hours. There is easy access to full telephone and internet services and a range of international banks and businesses. Traffic drives on the left, there is little unemployment and pets are welcome.

Whether you are considering retiring to Northern Cyprus, buying a holiday home, or investing, you'll find an exciting, healthy environment and a considerably lower cost of living.

More and more British holiday makers are beginning to discover the joys of Northern Cyprus leading to more U.K. residents looking to purchase property than ever before, and with the fantastic value it represents, combined with the climate and the lower cost of living, who can blame them?

If that sounds attractive and you think you might enjoy a more relaxed pace of life with more time to enjoy the things you love, whether it be a new interest or hobby, or simply catching up on precious time with your family and friends, then you should seriously consider buying a property here.

Whatever your circumstances and whatever you are looking for, you can rely on Aklan to help you find exactly what you want and to guide you safely through the selection and purchase of your new property.
